Corgi 8103 Spindrift Powerboat Racing

Ref: 36908

Marks and Spencer issue
Excellent, box Good

Price: 165.00

In 1978, Marks and Spencer commissioned Corgi to produce an exclusive range of sets, to be sold in their stores under their own St Michael brand. The models were selected from the Corgi range, but produced in different liveries and with the Corgi name removed from the baseplates. The sets were packaged in red St Michael lidded window boxes.

This Powerboat Racing set comprises:

- Helicopter in green and yellow with silver interior and engine. Rotatable rotors and thumbwheel-operated winch.

- Ferrari Daytona in yellow with amber tinted windows and 'glazed front lights. Opening doors, black interior. Black base with integral tow bar.

- Twin-hulled yellow plastic powerboat with chrome engine and black propeller and seat. On a dark green diecast trailer.

- Orange plastic RESCUE dinghy with black spray deck and white outboard motor.

All with a variety of Spindrift logos and dark green racing stripes. The models are in excellent condition with no play wear. The bonnet label on the Ferrari has aged somewhat, and the labels on the boats have lifted in places. The box has a little light wear and creasing on the lid, and slight fading on one side. The inner packaging is excellent, complete with scenic illustration inside.

These sets were discontinued in late 1979, so were only available for a short time. Consequently today they are rare, particularly in such good condition.
