This is a code 3 model, which means it has been disassembled after manufacture and refinished in a non-standard promotional livery. This one commemorates the 1983 'Three Cocks' working steam rally, held annually at Hay-on-Wye.

The bonnet and cab doors are dark blue, the rear body is off-white, and the roof and chassis are black. The windscreen frame, lights and grille are chrome plated and the seats and steering wheel are black. On the sides are 'Three Cocks Working Rally 1983' decals with yellow, red and black logo. On the rear there are red rear lights but no representation of the back doors; instead there is a black rectangle enclosing the limited edition serial number of the model, in this case 96 although I don't know what the total production run was. Every example of this model is therefore unique.

Another interesting aspect of this model is that the standard Matchbox wheels, axles and tyres have been replaced with more realistic ones. The wheels are cast 12-spoke painted to match the rear body, and the tyres are narrow smooth rubber, much more like the real thing. The axles are somewhat thicker than the standard ones.

This example is very near mint; there is the slightest of scuffing on the roof where it has rubbed against the box. The box itself is a 'straw' window box with a Promotional Model label on the header card and a price label on the window. One front bottom corner of the box is rather crumpled.
