This is an example if the scarcer purple version of the Fowler Showman's Engine, with off-white roof and supports with gold roof poles. The boiler door is painted a copper colour, and there is gold trim to the chimney and generator. The chimney extension is stowed on the roof, ready to be erected when the engine reaches the fairground and is put into action generating power for the rides. The wheels are spoked metal, finished in yellow with unpainted metal treads. This is an earlier casting without the extended block behind the 'Made in England by Lesney' plate on the underside, which is in body colour.

This example is in fair condition. One of the rear roof supports is missing, the rear axle is bent, and one of the front wheels is bent too. There is only light paint chipping, and the decals are around 90% intact. It comes in its original type D2 box which is complete but has some creasing on one plain side and on the end flaps. A price of 5/3 (five shillings and threepence) is marked on the face.
