NEW ARRIVAL
Mint, Box Excellent

Price: 24.50

This set consists of a Scammell tractor unit with 100 ton low-loader semi trailer, with a GER class E4 2-4-0 steam locomotive load. This transporter was the largest vehicle of its kind, and originally had a 7-litre petrol engine with twin chain drive to the multi-wheeled rear axle. The trailer had a built-in jacking system to raise and lower the load bed, and a steersman's position at the rear from which the rear bogies could be steered.

The model is in Pickfords livery of blue and red with white roof. The tractor unit has a black grille, silver and black fittings and a light brown cab inteRior. Both tractor and trailer have red wheels with black tyres. A point of note is that 'Scammell' is spelt incorrectly on the base of the tractor, with one 'l' - a tradition carried over from the 1960 M6 Pickfords transporter!

The locomotive is black with gold plated fittings and red trim. The cab has '490' plates on the sides and light brown fittings.

The set comes in a red, maroon and gold lidded box with historical notes, and with a white card protective outer box.
