This set was issued in 1988 to mark the passing of 40 years since the production of Lesney diecast toys commenced. The models in the set are reproductions of the first models in the Matchbox range, numbers 1 to 5, and the box is in the same style as the original Matchbox gift sets.
The models are in excellent condition, as new apart from a small rub on one side of the bus. The box is very good, just a little fading from sunlight on the front top edge. These would look good on display next to some original examples of the models (which of course were far superior!)
