An impressive and popular model. Light blue cab and trailer, and fawn upper and lower decks. The Bedford tractor unit has a black grille and bumper, with silver trim to the grille and headlights, and a black 'DINKY TOYS' base. The wheels have mid blue ridged hubs and black tyres. The trailer, which is cast in aluminium, has a hinged rear ramp. It has 'DINKY TOYS DELIVERY SERVICE' on the sides in dark blue, and also on the rear drop-down ramp along with a '20' sign. The mid blue wheels are Supertoys type, again with smooth tyres.
This is a very nice example, with bright, shiny paintwork. There is a little paint loss on the upper rear corners of the trailer where an upper deck loading ramp has been attached - these were sold as an optional accessory - and a few little chips elsewhere. The tyres have hardened somewhat but have no flat spots, and the axles are rust-free.
The striped lidded 'DINKY TOYS' box has some general age wear, particularly to the top, but no splits. There are no internal packing pieces.
This model was renumbered to 982 in 1954.
