This set consists of no.490 Volkswagen breakdown truck with a trailer, 2 Lotus Elans (318 & 319) with spare chassis, and a no.155 Lotus F1 racing car.
The VW is white with red 'VW' logo, lemon interior and grey base. The rear deck is fitted out with a red plastic tool chest, fuel cans and spare tyre holder. The tool chest's lid opens to reveal a range of chrome plated tools. The operating rear winch is in unpainted metal, and has a spring-loaded ratchet mechanism and metal hook. There are Corgi 'Racing Club' labels on the doors, and a yellow and red striped label on the rear. There is a plastic tow hitch that couples to the red single-axle trailer.
There are two Lotus Elans, one open top and one hard top. The former is British Racing Green with yellow stripe and red interior, the latter is yellow with green stripe and off-white interior. The open car has a driver figure, tipping front seats, a tan dashboard and side windows that slide up and down. Both Elans have an opening bonnet and removable silver metal 'backbone' chassis unit with silver plated plastic engine and black radiator. The set comes with a spare chassis.
Finally, there is a Lotus-Climax Formula 1 racing car in British Racing Green, with silver plated engine, suspension, mirrors, exhaust and steering wheel. It has a yellow bonnet stripe, racing number 1 on the front and sides, and a driver with blue helmet.
The models in this set are generally in excellent condition. The VW truck has a chip on the roof and a few small rubs on the front and sides. The crane has its original cord and hook; there is slight ageing to the door labels, and the two spare tyres that originally came with the tuck are missing.
The Elans both have racing numbers applied, as supplied with the set. There is some light paint chipping on both, mainly on the front and rear edges, heavier on the green one. The tyres on all the models are original and in good shape, apart from a flat spot on one of the Elan tyres. The spare chassis has a bent front axle. The Lotus F1 is in excellent condition.
The set comes with 12 yellow and red plastic cones.
The outer box has general age wear and is rather 'tired', particularly along the edges, although the window is intact. The inner expanded polystyrene tray is excellent, with no significant damage and only very slight discolouration.
