This is a large, imposing model of a 49-seater (yes, I counted them!) luxury coach from the 1960s. It is the first version, in pale grey with maroon and silver side flashes and silver painted bumpers, grille and headlights. The interior is cream with a black steering wheel, and the cast metal base is silver. Wheels are unpainted metal with black tyres.
The model has an opening rear luggage compartment, but its main claim to fame is the battery-operated flashing indicator lights. As you push the model forward and press down on one side or the other, the front wheels steer and operate a switch to illuminated the indicator bulb on the appropriate side. The bulbs are made to flash by a cam on the rear axle which opens and shuts contacts. A mechanical system from before the days of micro electronics and LEDs!
This example is in very nice condition, just a couple of little nicks and rubs on raised body lines. There are three small stickers on the windscreen, which could of course be removed if desired. The indicator lamp system has been tested and is working, all it needs is an AA battery. It is necessary to press the suspension down firmly though! Some cleaning of contacts may improve operation.
The box is the early lidded type. The lid has some edge wear, and a split at one corner. There is a small amount of writing in pen on top of the lid.
