Slot Racing Models (S.R.M.) was founded around 1959 in North London, and produced a slot racing system in 1:40 scale. The name was changed to Scale Raceway Models during the 1960s (still S.R.M!) , and in late 1967 acquired Super Shells, a manufacturer of slot car body shells. The 1:32 body shells became the main product line, and these were produced in by various iterations of the company until 2017.
This Vanwall is an example of one of the early S.R.M. models, and is in British Racing Green with racing number 6 and detailed driver with blue helmet. The wheels are spun metal with rubber tyres. The motor is mounted in a metal chassis with metal gears, and the pickups are copper strips. Not the front and rear guide pins!
In generally good condition, but the exhaust pipe is missing and the windscreen has been re-glued into place. The motor does not run when voltage is applied, but the wiring and brushes are present and correct so it may be possible to coax it into life.
